Edremit and the Lake Van shore
A district extending along the Lake Van shoreline. Van Ferit Melen Havalimanı (Van Ferit Melen Airport) is also within Edremit.
Edremit is a district extending along the Lake Van shoreline; the villages of central Van lie to its east, and the lake to its west and north.
It covers 290 square kilometres, has an altitude of between 1,650 and 1,755 metres and consists of 30 neighbourhoods. It gained district status in 1991.
Van Ferit Melen Havalimanı (Van Ferit Melen Airport) is within Edremit; the main campus of Van Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi (Van Training and Research Hospital) is also here. The district covers the coastal strip between the city centre and the lake.
Directions: drive towards Edremit; the journey from the airport to the city passes through this district.
